I will not be posting these “income reports” regularly, partly because I don’t think they are necessary and because they can make some people feel discouraged. I just want you to know what is possible if you work hard at poker, and persist.
This is an example of a pretty average month for me, I usually play more hands (about 40-50,000). I will also keep you posted on different ways of making money playing poker, you can make money from things like rake-back, bonuses and of course playing.
I was pretty lazy this month by only putting in about 30,000 hands. My goal was 50,000 but at around September 20th I just was feeling the slack gene in me and I thought why not, I’ve been working hard for the last few months putting in an average of 50,000 hands a month.
I also picked up poker more seriously again after a break from December 2006 to May 2007, the longest break I’ve had since I began playing seriously in late 2004.
I’ve also started playing more Pot-Limit Omaha, a much needed refresher since I’ve been playing No-Limit Hold’em exclusively for almost 1½ years now. I came to the same point when I was playing Limit Hold’em, I was going insane sometime in early 2006, that was when I decided to switch and learn No-Limit Hold’em.
The jump from a Fixed Limit game to a big bet No-Limit game was huge and me learning Pot-Limit Omaha now will most likely be a much more smooth jump. Omaha is kind of like No-Limit Hold’em except with 2 more cards (simply put).
What did my month look like then? Well, I 8-tabled mostly $200 No-Limit. I really need to move up the stakes, I keep hearing it from friends but I feel so complacent just owning the $200 No-Limit game. I am going to get a grip on myself though and move up, especially in Pot-Limit Omaha. Anyway, here is the breakdown:
- No-Limit Hold’em: $5,776.84
- Pot-Limit Omaha: $463.45
- Rake-back: $2,094.43
- Bonuses: $600.00
- Grand Total: $8934.72
So all in (tiny bit of pun intended
) all, a solid month even though I didn’t put in the hours I wished I had. We’ll see how October goes, I’m not sure what I want to do this month, maybe I’ll just take it easy. I know that I want to study and learn Pot-Limit Omaha more so I will be putting in at least 20,000 hands in that game this month. I’ll probably compliment that with some No-Limit Hold’em as well.
